Kingwood, TX - The West Fork Gators launched their district campaign with an emphatic 35-2 victory at home against Huntsville, pushing their overall record to 4-0 and 1-0 in district play.
The scoring began early when wide receiver Marchaun Warmley hauled in a big touchdown on a crucial fourth-down play, setting the tone for the night. Quarterback Tyler Gilliam was highly efficient, throwing three total touchdowns, connecting with Noah Henry and Micah Matroonejad. Addis Mathews sealed the offensive success on the ground with a rushing touchdown. Kicker Rafael Mondragon contributed with a clutch 44-yard field goal and a 30-yard field goal.
The defense was suffocating, holding Huntsville to just two points. The unit was highlighted by several game-changing plays: Kelton Charles recorded a sack and a forced fumble, Jamorian Bryant secured an interception, and Luke Kordisch delivered a crucial tackle on a fourth-down stop. The special teams unit also had a major impact, forcing two more turnovers (one on a kickoff and one on a punt), ensuring Huntsville could never gain momentum.
The Gators will look to continue their winning streak next week as they travel to Splendora to play on October 1st at 5:00 PM.
