The West Fork boys track team delivered an outstanding performance at the 74th Annual Texas Southern (TSU) Relays on Saturday, March 21st, showcasing their depth and determination against a highly competitive field. Every Gator competitor finished within the top four of their respective events, a testament to the team’s preparation and focus. Levi Jones continued his impressive season in the 300-meter hurdles, clocking a strong 40.75 to earn a 4th place finish against elite competition. The 4x100 relay team of Addis Mathews, De’juan Kizzie, Amar Gordon, and Jailen Jones turned in a season-best time of 42.29 in the prelims to advance to finals, where they narrowly missed the podium with a 4th place finish.
The Gators continued to build momentum throughout the meet, highlighted by a standout performance in the 4x200 relay. Jordyn Vaughn, Jailen Jones, Amar Gordon, and De’juan Kizzie combined for an impressive 1:29.38, earning silver medals and a 2nd place finish. Capping off the day in thrilling fashion, Jailen Jones competed in his fifth race and rose to the occasion in the 100-meter finals, setting a season best, personal best, and new school record with a blazing 10.33 to take home gold. It was a remarkable day for West Fork, as the team proved that “Gator Speed” is more than just a motto—it’s the result of relentless hard work and dedication!
