The West Fork Boys Track team delivered an impressive showing at the 17/18-5A Area Meet in Huntsville, showcasing their talent, determination, and continued growth as the postseason intensifies. Competing against some of the top athletes in the region, the Gators rose to the challenge and turned in several standout performances that earned them multiple podium finishes and a berth at the regional meet.
Leading the way was Jailen Jones, who captured a first-place finish in the long jump with a record-breaking leap of 22 feet, 7.5 inches, setting a new school record and solidifying his place among the area’s elite. Jones wasn’t done there, as he also sprinted his way to a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash, demonstrating his versatility and explosive speed on the track.
Levi Jones also had a strong day for the Gators, earning a second-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles and adding a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles. His performances highlighted both his endurance and technical skill, contributing valuable points for the team. De’juan Kizzie made his mark in multiple events as well, securing a third-place finish in the high jump and a crucial fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash, qualifying him for the regional meet.
With several athletes advancing and others delivering personal bests on a big stage, the West Fork boys continue to build momentum heading into regionals. Their performances at the area meet reflect not only their physical preparation, but also the grit, focus, and pride they carry each time they represent their school.
