WEST FORK OPENS 2026 SEASON WITH DOMINANT 20-3 VICTORY OVER ALIEF ELSIK

West Fork’s defense allows just three points as the Gators start the season 1-0

The West Fork Gators opened the 2026 season with a statement, defeating the Alief Elsik Rams 20-3 behind a dominant defensive performance and a balanced offensive attack.

West Fork established control early, taking a 7-0 lead in the opening quarter. Elsik managed a field goal in the second quarter, cutting the Gators’ advantage to 7-3 heading into halftime.

That would be the last time the Rams put points on the board.

West Fork took control after the break, adding a touchdown in the third quarter to extend its lead to 13-3. A fumbled snap on the ensuing extra-point attempt kept the margin at 10, but the Gators responded with another touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game away and secure the 20-3 season-opening victory.

GILLIAM GUIDES BALANCED OFFENSIVE ATTACK

Quarterback Tyler Gilliam led the Gator passing attack, completing 11 of 21 passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns.

Emiliano Hinostroza provided a big play through the air with a 27-yard touchdown reception, while Ronald Stagger also hauled in a touchdown pass.

On the ground, Kaden Simmons led West Fork with 58 rushing yards on eight carries, averaging more than seven yards per attempt and adding a touchdown of his own.

With two touchdowns through the air and another on the ground, West Fork found multiple ways to reach the end zone while its defense kept the Rams in check throughout the night.

GATOR DEFENSE OVERWHELMS ELSIK

West Fork’s defense was the story of the night.

The Gators did not allow a touchdown, surrendered only three points over four quarters and shut Elsik out completely in the second half. West Fork’s defense also created pressure in the backfield and produced takeaways through the air.

Mason Evans-Pickens led the way with 10 total tackles, including five solo stops, while also recording two sacks. Elijah Smith finished with eight tackles, including two solo, while Jayden Salas recorded seven tackles with six coming solo.

Jayden Whitelow added seven tackles, including three solo stops, and also came away with an interception.

The Gators consistently found their way into the Elsik backfield. In addition to Evans-Pickens’ two sacks, Nathan Estrada and Gary Pearce each recorded a sack, giving West Fork four sacks on the night.

The secondary made its presence felt as well. Javen Nededog joined Whitelow with an interception as West Fork recorded two takeaways through the air.

The defensive performance became even more important with West Fork holding only a 7-3 advantage at halftime. The Gators responded by keeping Elsik off the scoreboard for the final two quarters while the offense scored 13 unanswered points to turn a close game into a convincing victory.

WEST FORK STARTS 2026 AT 1-0

The 20-3 victory gives West Fork a 1-0 start to the 2026 season and provides plenty for the Gators to build on moving forward.

West Fork will now turn its attention to the Huffman Hargrave Falcons, who enter the matchup with an 0-1 record.

After opening the year with three offensive touchdowns, four sacks, two interceptions and a defense that did not allow a touchdown, the Gators will look to carry that momentum into Week 2.
