9/22 WF VARSITY VS PORTER

It was an exciting night at The Swamp as the Gators faced off against the Porter Spartans in a matchup for first place in district play! Coming into the night, both West Fork and Porter were sitting at 4-0 in district, making this an important battle to close out the first round of district play.
The first set was a battle from the start, with both teams trading points and competing through long rallies. The Gators took an early lead behind aggressive serving and did a great job executing the opportunities Porter gave us. We continued to battle and finished the first set 25-18.
Porter continued to challenge us in the second set, but the Gators stayed composed and continued to make plays on both sides of the net. We battled through several long rallies, found opportunities to score, and finished the second set 25-22. In the third and final set, the Gators continued to play together and execute, closing out the match 25-15.

Offensively, Khloe Lilly led the team with 12 kills, followed by Rylie Scimio with 10 and Kailey Pate with 9. Kailey also led the team defensively with 10 digs and Addison Wilcox with 9 digs. In the setting game, Kailey Pate finished with 17 assists, followed by Tenly Newsom with 14 assists. We saw great moments offensively and defensively throughout the entire match!
One of the plays that sealed the deal came in the third set with the score 20-13. Rylie Scimio stepped behind the service line and delivered a strong serve that resulted in an overpass. Alex Scimio was ready for the opportunity and executed a flawless HAPPY BIRTHDAY to finish the play! The gym erupted with cheers and excitement as the sister duo teamed up to earn the point and bring The Swamp to life!

The Gators battled, competed, and took advantage of the opportunities in front of them to earn the 3-0 victory over Porter! Another great night for Gator Volleyball!
With the victory, the Gators move to 5-0 in district play and will face Spring Woods next Tuesday as they close out the first round of district competition. Stay tuned for what comes next!
