Our West Fork Varsity Gators opened the second round of district play with a statement, taking down the Kingwood Park Panthers in a clean 3-set victory, 25-17, 25-17, and 25-22!
The Gators came out with intensity from the very first serve and built the energy throughout all three sets. When the pressure was on, our team answered back, stayed composed, and continued to play together. Every single player contributed to this win against KPark. From the first serve to the final point, our Gators stepped up when their moment came, made plays for each other, and brought energy that kept us moving forward. This was a true team victory—everyone had a role, everyone contributed, and everyone helped us earn the 3-0 win. It was a great night for West Fork Volleyball!
Offensively, the Gators finished with 38 total kills, led by Khloe Lilly with 14 kills! Our setters were smart and decisive throughout the match, with Tenly Newsom finishing with 18 assists and Kailey Pate adding 17 assists. In the middle, Jianna Naranjo and Autumn Sanderson worked hard to create opportunities, getting touches at the net and putting the ball down when given the chance. Jianna was especially dominant, finishing with an impressive .750 hitting percentage!
Defensively, our Gators continued to battle for every ball, finishing with 46 total digs and keeping the Panthers from finding a rhythm. The effort on defense, combined with the pressure we created at the net, helped the Gators maintain control throughout the match.
It was a great night for West Fork Volleyball! Our Varsity Gators are now 7-0 in district play and continue to hold the first-place spot as we move deeper into the second round.
Next up, we return to The Swamp this Tuesday, 10/6, to take on the Splendora Wildcats! Come out and support your Gators!
