WEST FORK TAKES DOWN RIVAL PORTER 17-6, REMAINS UNBEATEN IN DISTRICT PLAY
Gators use a dominant defensive effort and a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in district

West Fork and Porter met Friday night at Randall Reed Stadium for a district rivalry matchup that turned into a defensive battle from the opening kick.

For three quarters, the Gators managed only three points. But when West Fork needed a spark, Landon Walker provided it. When Porter threatened to answer, the Gator defense slammed the door.

Walker broke loose for a 45-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter before Gary Pearce delivered the finishing blow with a pick-six, helping West Fork earn a hard-fought 17-6 victory over Porter.

The rivalry win improves the Gators to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in district play, keeping West Fork unbeaten through its first two district contests.

DEFENSE SETS THE TONE
Points were difficult to come by from the beginning.

Neither team found the end zone in the first quarter, with West Fork and Porter entering the second tied 0-0.

Porter threatened to break the scoreless tie after driving deep into West Fork territory, but the Gator defense came up with a huge stand, stopping Porter on the 7-yard line on fourth down to keep the Spartans off the scoreboard.

The defense continued to make plays throughout the first half.

Amar Gordon came away with an interception, producing the first of two West Fork takeaways and preventing Porter from building any offensive momentum.

West Fork's defense continued to control the game throughout the first half, eventually sending Porter into halftime without a point.

TRICK PLAY HELPS SET UP FIRST POINTS
With both defenses controlling the game, West Fork turned to some creativity offensively.

Landon Walker threw to Ronald Stagger for a 43-yard completion. It was West Fork's longest passing play of the night and helped flip the field in a game where every yard mattered.

Stagger finished as West Fork's leading receiver with two catches for 52 yards.

The Gators eventually got on the scoreboard with just five seconds remaining before halftime when Trevor Wilson connected on a 20-yard field goal, giving West Fork a 3-0 advantage heading into the locker room.

DEFENSE KEEPS PORTER SCORELESS THROUGH THREE
The defensive battle continued after halftime.

Neither team scored during the third quarter, leaving West Fork with the same 3-0 advantage entering the final 12 minutes.

Javen Nededog was all over the field for the Gators, finishing with 10 total tackles, seven solo stops, three tackles for loss and a pass breakup.

Jayden Salas added five tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack and four pressures, while Orion Redus recorded six tackles and a sack.

Luke Kordisch also made an impact up front with five tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack and two pressures.

Through three quarters, the West Fork defense had done its job.

Now the Gators needed a play to break the game open.

WALKER PROVIDES THE SPARK
It came just 10 seconds into the fourth quarter.

West Fork put the ball in the hands of Landon Walker on a reverse, and Walker exploded through the Porter defense for a 45-yard touchdown run.

The PAT was good, and suddenly a game that had been separated by just three points became a 10-0 West Fork advantage.

Walker touched the ball only once as a runner Friday night.

He made it count.

The 45-yard touchdown was West Fork's longest rushing play of the game and provided the momentum swing the Gators had been searching for all night.

PORTER ANSWERS, GATORS RESPOND
The game wasn't over yet.

West Fork lost a fumble with approximately 10 minutes remaining, giving Porter an opportunity to climb back into the game.

The Spartans capitalized, scoring a touchdown with 9:18 remaining. The extra point was unsuccessful, cutting West Fork's advantage to 10-6.

For the first time all night, Porter had found the end zone and had an opportunity to seize momentum.

West Fork immediately responded.

Emiliano Hinostroza delivered a big kickoff return following the Porter touchdown, helping swing field position back in the Gators' favor.

Then the defense delivered the play that put the rivalry game away.

PEARCE DELIVERS THE DAGGER
With 5:57 remaining, Gary Pearce intercepted a Porter pass and returned it for a touchdown, turning a four-point game into a two-score West Fork advantage.

The PAT was good.

West Fork 17. Porter 6.

Pearce's touchdown was the defining defensive play of a night filled with them. He finished with eight tackles, four pressures and the interception returned for a touchdown.

The Gators wouldn't allow another point.

After surrendering only six points all night, West Fork walked off the field with a rivalry victory and another district win.

GATORS WIN WITH DEFENSE AND TIMELY PLAYS
This wasn't a night when West Fork overwhelmed Porter with offensive yardage.

It was a night when the Gators made the plays that mattered.

West Fork finished with 203 yards of total offense, rushing for 129 yards and passing for 74.

Kaden Simmons handled the bulk of the rushing workload with 22 carries for 68 yards and added a 22-yard reception. Tyler Gilliam completed 7 of 16 passes for 31 yards and rushed for another 17.

But the difference came from the explosive plays.

Walker's 45-yard reverse produced the Gators' only offensive touchdown. His 43-yard pass to Stagger helped create another scoring opportunity. Wilson delivered the game's first points. Hinostroza provided a crucial kickoff return after Porter cut the lead to four.

And defensively, Gordon and Pearce each came away with interceptions, with Pearce taking his all the way to the end zone.

In a physical rivalry game where neither team had much room for error, West Fork found a way.

“IT'S ABOUT US”
The message surrounding the Gators this week was simple:

“IT'S ABOUT US!”

West Fork backed it up Friday night.

The Gators didn't need an offensive shootout. They relied on their defense, special teams and timely explosive plays to beat their rival and remain perfect in district competition.

After opening district play with a 34-16 victory over Kingwood Park, West Fork has now won back-to-back district games and sits at 4-1 overall and 2-0 in district.

NEXT UP: HUNTSVILLE
West Fork now turns its attention to another important district matchup as the Gators travel to face Huntsville High School.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, October 9, at Huntsville ISD Hornet Stadium.

West Fork will enter the matchup looking to remain unbeaten in district play and continue building on its strong start to the 2026 season.

FINAL: WEST FORK 17, PORTER 6
