The West Fork Gators JV football team hosted the Huntsville Hornets on Thursday, October 8, in a competitive matchup at Gator Field. Despite a determined second-half effort, the Gators fell just short, dropping a 27–19 decision to the Hornets.
West Fork got off to a slow start offensively but found its rhythm after halftime behind quarterback Bryce Nichols. Nichols provided a spark for the Gator offense with two long rushing touchdowns, showcasing his playmaking ability and giving West Fork a boost as the team fought to close the gap. Nichols also connected with wide receiver Alonzo Williams on a big passing play that helped energize the Gator offense.
The Gator defense also made a statement in the second half. Defensive end Abraham Reyes ignited the team with an interception return for a touchdown, creating a momentum-changing play and giving the Gators another boost in their comeback effort. Despite the second-half surge on both sides of the ball, West Fork was unable to complete the rally before the final whistle.
The Gators will look to regroup and build on their second-half performance as they prepare for their next matchup on the road against the Splendora Wildcats on Thursday, October 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. as West Fork looks to get back in the win column.
