The New Caney West Fork Lady Gators delivered a historic performance at the Region 4 Division I Powerlifting Championships, shattering program records and cementing their place as one of the premier programs in the region.
West Fork qualified a program-record 23 athletes to regionals, and when the dust settled, nine Lady Gators punched their ticket to the THSWPA State Meet — another program record.
Record-Breaking Performances
Sophomore standout Cristina Garcia delivered one of the most electric moments of the meet, pulling a 360-pound deadlift to set a new regional record. The lift not only secured critical team points, but stamped her name into the Region 4 history books.
Meanwhile, Ximena Mejia once again proved why she is one of the most dominant lifters in Texas. Mejia was named:
- Best Overall Lifter
- Best Squat Award Winner
- And is now a 3x State Qualifier
Her dominance on the platform continues to elevate the standard for the entire program.
Power Across the Bench
West Fork’s strength was on full display in the bench press, where five Lady Gators benched over 225 pounds, showcasing the program’s physical development and commitment in the weight room. That kind of upper-body power at the regional level is rare, and a testament to the culture being built inside the Gator Powerlifting program.
Building Something Bigger
In just a few short years, West Fork has transformed into a regional powerhouse:
- 23 Regional Qualifiers (Program Record)
- 9 State Qualifiers (Program Record)
- 4 Regional Champions
- Individual awards
- New Regional Records
