The West Fork Gators boys track team capped off an impressive season with a strong showing at the District 18-5A Track Meet, held April 8th and 9th at Porter High School. Competing with determination and pride, the Gators earned a 2nd place overall team finish against a talented field. Along the way, the athletes displayed outstanding character in every event, relentless hustle from start to finish, and made the most of every opportunity presented to them. They showed impressive mental toughness while overcoming adversity in tough races and field events, all while competing with a deep sense of pride for their school and community.
Leading the way were four standout first-place performances. Jailen Jones delivered a remarkable day, claiming gold in both the 100-meter dash and the long jump, where he set a new school record with a leap of 21 feet, 11 inches. De’juan Kizzie added another district title in the 200-meter dash, while Levi Jones dominated the 300-meter hurdles with a record-breaking time of 39.55, setting a new school mark. The Gators also saw impressive contributions across the board, finishing with five second-place medals, three third-place finishes, and four fourth-place finishes—each securing valuable points and advancement opportunities.
West Fork’s future was also on full display, as two freshmen made their mark by qualifying for the area meet. Gregory Rogers earned a 4th place finish in the shot put, while Kaleb Jenkins showed versatility and grit with a 4th place finish in the 110-meter hurdles and a 3rd place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. In total, 13 Gators qualified to advance to the Area Meet in Huntsville on Wednesday, April 15th, continuing what has already been an outstanding season for the program.
