The West Fork Boys Varsity Track team made history at the Huffman Falcon Relays on Thursday, March 5, 2026, securing their first-ever varsity team victory. Competing against a field of 16 teams, including several strong 6A programs, the Gators dominated the meet, finishing with 6 first-place finishes and 2 third-place finishes. A standout moment for the team came when they set new school records in both the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x200 meter relay, with each relay team clinching first place in their events. This victory marked a significant milestone for the program, as they continue to rise as one of the top teams in the area.
While the entire team performed admirably, two athletes shone above the rest. De'juan Kizzie had an exceptional day, setting both a personal and school record with a 6'4" high jump mark. He also won the 200m dash and contributed to both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, earning an impressive four gold medals. Jailen Jones was another standout performer, winning the 100m dash and contributing to the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, also securing three gold medals. What makes Jones’ achievements even more remarkable is that he accomplished this after playing in a West Fork baseball game earlier in the day, where he hit a two-run homer in a 7-1 victory—a rare and impressive feat for any athlete.
The Gators’ success at the Huffman Falcon Relays is not only a testament to their athleticism but also to the character and dedication they continue to display both on and off the track. This victory sets a new standard of excellence for the West Fork Track program, and with performances like these, the future is looking incredibly bright for the Gators
